    Deck Review: Zoomies Tarot

    December 7, 2025 /

The Zoomies Tarot is whimsical, tender, and often surprisingly profound - very much in keeping with Amber Fossey’s trademark ability to make a “cute” drawing suddenly hit you in the feelings. With her background as an NHS doctor working in psychiatry, Fossey understands the messy grey areas of being human, and that compassion runs through the deck. Her creatures are a little strange, a little scruffy, sometimes falling apart… but always worthy of love.

Deck Review: Wild Waters Edge Tarot

    June 2, 2025 /

The Wild Waters Edge Tarot is a burst of pure, radiant joy - a fistful of sunshine rendered in watercolour. With its 70s flair, bold colours, and fairytale optimism, it invites play and wonder without slipping into fluff. This is a deck that reconnects you with your inner flower child, while still offering thoughtful symbolism and emotional resonance.

Deck Review: The Light Seer’s Tarot

    May 10, 2024 /

The romance novel plotline for my relationship with The Light Seer’s Tarot did not start with a classic meet cute and InstaLove, but was much more a case of enemies-to-lovers! Very early on in my Tarot journey (when the ADHD blackhole-pull of deck accumulation was at its most ferocious) I was intrigued enough by the deck to buy a really cheap copy on eBay. I bought it mainly because it’s such a popular deck that I felt it would be worth me exploring a bit (to see what all the fuss was about), not because I felt a particular connection to it per se (unlike my intense, violent, love-at-first sight…

    Deck Review: The Gentle Tarot

    May 9, 2024 /

I’m almost done re-writing and uploading my old deck reviews to the blog (two to go after this one!), and it seemed like a really appropriate time to post my review of The Gentle Tarot by Mari In The Sky (the publishing house of creator and artist Mariza Ryce Aparicio-Tovar), as the second edition is shortly about to launch on Kickstarter (pre-launch link here). A quick note to say that the second edition looks fab, and: NO BORDERS! I love borderless cards, so if the deck appeals to you, I’d hold out and order the second edition. I’m sure you could get all sorts of extra goodies too, as the…

    Deck Review: Ostara Tarot

    May 6, 2024 /

One of the first decks I bought (after a vintage Morgan Greer deck) was the Ostara Tarot created by the four-illustrator team of Krista Gibbard, Eden Cook, Julia Iredale, and Molly Applejohn. It’s a really gentle deck, and was largely pretty beginner friendly. Also, one of my cats (Cat Stevens) became oddly obsessed with it, which I take as a good sign, given how discerning kits are. The below photo was taken after I extracted it from his thieving paws (those gilt edges are not claw friendly!) I photographed this deck with the beautiful wisteria that I lovingly planted and nurtured in my old garden (I love living by the sea,…

    Deck Review: Genius Garden Tarot

    August 30, 2023 /

Eeeeeek, I can’t believe how quickly this deck went from me falling in love with it on Kickstarter to being in my hot little hands. Seriously, the creator and artist of the Genius Garden Tarot, Jessi Huntenburg, runs a tight ship. This is the swiftest and most professional Kickstarter campaign I think I’ve ever backed! Huntenburg describes the ‘genius’ of the Genius Garden Tarot as “the unique spirit of your higher self, the directional arrow that points you toward your most creative potential”, adding “genius isn’t a title that’s reserved for the quickest or most accomplished among us. Instead, it’s a gift that’s given to each of us at the…

Deck Review: The Tarot of Oneness

    June 22, 2023 /

The Tarot of Oneness by Robyn Voisey arrived when I was going through a rough time due to a bereavement, and I really appreciated its gentle, healing energy. I um-ed and ahh-ed over backing it on Kickstarter when I first saw it, as it’s not my usual bag of tea. Too kitschy, too twee, too happy-clappy; the images too hyper-realistic. But I am so glad I did, because it reads like a freakin’ dream. SO intuitive. It doesn’t so much speak to me, as sing me a personalised love song. The Deck: Look, Feel, and Finish It really is such a bright, joyous deck (look at those colours!). It’s all…
