Deck Review: Zoomies Tarot
The Zoomies Tarot is whimsical, tender, and often surprisingly profound - very much in keeping with Amber Fossey’s trademark ability to make a “cute” drawing suddenly hit you in the feelings. With her background as an NHS doctor working in psychiatry, Fossey understands the messy grey areas of being human, and that compassion runs through the deck. Her creatures are a little strange, a little scruffy, sometimes falling apart… but always worthy of love.

The Cracked Amethyst Tarot feels like both a culmination and a homecoming - a decade of Jessica Bott’s artistic growth distilled into a deck that’s gentle, thoughtful, and quietly wise. Each card hums with intention: landscapes alive with light, natural textures, and a kind of calm that feels both grounded and expansive. Bott’s reimagining of her long-out-of-print Idiosyncradeck is no nostalgia project; it’s a transformation. Like the oyster-Magician at its heart, this is grit turned into grace, art honed into alchemy.

Deck Review: The Spacious Tarot
The Spacious Tarot, as the name suggests, is a deck about space - not just physical landscapes, but emotional, psychic, and narrative space too. It replaces human figures with wide skies, open paths, and threshold moments at dawn and dusk. The effect is gently meditative rather than empty, celebrating the restorative power of intentional solitude. This is a deck that understands Tarot as process and becoming: always shifting, always open.

Deck Review: Grounded Wisdom Tarot
Another Kickstarter-backed deck that recently arrived with me is the gorgeously detailed Grounded Wisdom Tarot. The deck was designed and drawn by Gabby Morris, who takes a “polymathic approach*” to their projects, blending art and design with nature and ecological futures. (*My little ADHD magpie brain perked up at this inspired phrasing! My new goal is owning my own scattergun approach to knowledge by calling it ‘polymathic’! 💪) Morris’ website is full of really cool stuff from her Master’s project and subsequent work – it’s kinda chemistry-meets-cooking-meets-conservation-meets art & design-meets-am dram, and is well worth checking out. The deck not only has lots of crossovers with my own myriad interests…

Deck Review: The Forager’s Daughter Tarot
Having seen it in a few other people’s collections, I initially decided to get the Forager’s Daughter Tarot (Afterlight Edition) because I really liked the concept of it as an artwork (as opposed to thinking I’d necessarily work with it a lot). I was not disappointed – the art in this deck, and the quality of the cards, really is stunning. If you collect Tarot/pretty, clever things then this deck is a really worthwhile addition to your collection.
